Dong Thap Province: Border Residents Receive Gifts and Legal Knowledge Contest

In Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam, the Provincial Police Department, in collaboration with customs and border guards, organized a legal knowledge contest on drug prevention and control. The contest targets the border area spanning Dong Thap Province and Cambodia's Prey Veng Province, aiming to deepen legal knowledge among local residents and raise awareness about drug-related crimes. In recent years, while Vietnam has continued its economic growth, an increase in drug trafficking and related crimes in border areas has become a challenge. The government is attempting to address these crimes through strengthened cooperation among law enforcement agencies and public awareness campaigns. This contest is positioned not just as a knowledge assessment but as part of efforts to protect the safety and welfare of people living in border regions. Simultaneously, aid supplies were presented to impoverished and disadvantaged households, creating an opportunity to deepen community ties. Dong Thap Province shares a long border with Cambodia and is an area with active economic exchange. However, due to its geographical characteristics, it is prone to becoming a base for criminal organizations, making security maintenance a crucial issue. This initiative aims to encourage each resident to abide by the law and contribute to the safety of the community. Under Vietnam's single-party communist system, maintaining social order and stability in people's lives is prioritized. Such community-based awareness activities are considered to contribute to the achievement of the government's policy objectives.
