Wild Boar Attacks in West Bandung, Two Residents Seriously Injured

A wild boar entered a residential area in Kampung Cirawa, Desa Celak, Kecamatan Gununghalu, Kabupaten Bandung Barat (KBB), West Java, attacking and seriously injuring two residents. The incident was captured in a video that went viral on social media. The footage shows the dark gray boar, with a wooden spear still embedded in its back, cornered by residents. Locals were heard screaming, trying to prevent the animal from fleeing towards a crowd of children and women. Kasi Humas Polres Cimahi, Iptu Gofur Supangkat, confirmed the incident, stating it occurred on Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2026. One victim, Asid (65), initially mistook the boar for a stray sheep and attempted to drive it away, but was subsequently attacked. He sustained injuries to his legs and hands and is receiving care from his family. As residents attempted to surround the boar, another villager, Pela, was also attacked. Pela suffered severe hand injuries requiring over 20 stitches at a local health center and has since returned home. After attacking residents, the boar reportedly fled into the Perhutani forest area and has not been seen since. Local residents suggest that the appearance of this wild animal was likely triggered by hunting activities in the forest behind the settlement.
