TAGBILARAN CITY—Most Rev. Crispin Barrete Varquez, D.D., will be formally installed as the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Tagbilaran on Oct. 27. Varquez has served as bishop of the Diocese of Borongan for nearly two decades, having been appointed bishop there in 2000. The canonical possession and solemn installation will be held at 9 a.m. at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine-Parish in Tagbilaran. The installation marks a significant transition in the leadership of the Catholic Church in the region. Bishop Varquez's tenure in Borongan has been marked by his pastoral work and leadership. His move to Tagbilaran signifies the continuation of the Church's mission in another key area of the Philippines, where faith plays a crucial role in the lives of many citizens and influences social discourse and community development.
