Cambodia Boosts Flood Preparedness Following July Disaster Review
Cambodia's National Committee for Disaster Management reviewed July's disaster response efforts and issued directives for August. Emphasis was placed on on-site inspections in high-risk provinces and equipment checks for rescue teams, aiming to bolster preparedness against natural disasters during the ongoing rainy season.
Phnom Penh, August 5, 2026 -- H.E. Kith Reth Sokun Kim, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Management, presided over a meeting on August 5, 2026, to review work results and set directions for August 2026 concerning disaster risk management. During the meeting, H.E. Kith Reth Sokun Kim urged for on-site inspections in provinces facing disaster impacts. He also stressed the importance of inspecting the equipment and tools used by search and rescue task forces, highlighting their specialized skills in intervening during potential disasters. Given the current rainy season and continuous rainfall, H.E. Kith Reth Sokun Kim instructed leaders to meticulously prepare work action plans and necessary reserves to prevent disaster risks caused by various natural factors.
