Vietnam's Medical Communications Evolve in Digital Age: Strengthening Preventive Care and Chronic Disease Management

As Vietnamese citizens increasingly seek health information in the digital realm, medical communications are evolving from mere support tools into an integral part of patient care. This transformation marks a new phase, particularly in managing chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and in promoting preventive healthcare. The "AS ONE" initiative is concretizing collaboration towards achieving the goals of controlling hypertension and diabetes nationwide during the 2026-2030 period. As part of this effort, the objective of providing free health check-ups for the public is being detailed, with the University Medical Center Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City spearheading the standardization of chronic disease management. Advancing proactive health education in this new era is crucial for raising public health awareness. Furthermore, enhancing the quality of cancer treatment is being pursued through in-depth training in specialized fields like radiotherapy and radiosurgery. The capacity building for 2,000 doctors in the treatment and management of non-communicable diseases is expected to contribute to curbing mortality rates from these conditions. With Vietnam's growing focus on maintaining and improving public health alongside its economic development, the dissemination of health information utilizing digital technology has become an indispensable component of public health enhancement. Especially amidst the persistent disparities in the healthcare system between urban and rural areas, digital platforms are increasingly vital for delivering accurate and timely health information to a broader population. This aligns with the long-term national objective of "people's health and happiness" advocated by the Communist Party of Vietnam.
