President Prabowo to Test New Luxury Train 'Nusantara Explorer'

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to depart for Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday, July 30, 2026. According to him, the restoration of Tawang Station Semarang is a follow-up to President Prabowo's directive to the President Director of KAI in 2025. Prabowo is also scheduled to test the Nusantara Explorer Train from Semarang to Batang City for a trial run. "This train is a manifestation of the President's desire for KAI to have beautiful, elegant, and comfortable passenger train services for the community," he said. In Batang, Prabowo will inaugurate the mass mortgage agreement for 62,000 subsidized housing units. The event, centered in Batang, will be held at 165 locations in 372 regencies/cities across 36 provinces. For information, Tawang Station Semarang is one of Indonesia's railway icons. The station was built by the Nederlandsche-Indische Spoorwegen Maatschappij (NISM) in 1911 and began operating in 1914. Tawang Station Semarang has been designated as a Cultural Heritage. The first phase of restoration for Tawang Station Semarang was completed in early July 2026. The Nusantara Explorer train is a new service from PT KAI, offering a premium experience for passengers. This passenger train, modified by PT KAI, was developed according to the President's direction to provide more representative, comfortable transportation services and present a new face for Indonesian railways. The train boasts several advantages, including an elegant and modern design, premium comfort, being "instagrammable" and classy, and offering a premium experience.
