Cambodia: Prime Minister's Office Donates to Orphans of Fallen Soldiers for Entrepreneurship

In Kampot province, Cambodia, young individuals from families of fallen soldiers have received donations from the Prime Minister's office, providing them with the means to establish new livelihoods. The handover ceremony took place on September 7, 2026, with the presence of Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and a representative of the Prime Minister's spouse. The recipients are students who have completed a six-month vocational training program at the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (NIEI), specializing in coffee making and baking, as well as beauty services. During their training, they were provided with accommodation and a monthly stipend of 1 million Riel (approximately $250 USD). Each student received a set of coffee grinding machines, a set of beauty salon equipment, and 6 million Riel (approximately $1,500 USD) in cash. These contributions are intended to help them start their own businesses using the skills acquired through the training, thereby generating income to support their families. Minister Heng Sour conveyed the deep regards and well wishes from former Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife, as well as from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, emphasizing their continuous concern for the welfare and living conditions of the families of fallen soldiers and those serving on the front lines. This initiative is part of Cambodia's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, aiming to foster youth employment and economic self-reliance. Support for the families of those who sacrificed in past conflicts holds significant importance for social stability and national cohesion.
