Cambodia and Philippines Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation for Export Growth

Cambodia and the Philippines are strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector, focusing on opening up the Philippine market for Cambodian cashews and livestock products, as both nations strive to boost agricultural trade and ensure regional food security. During a visit to the Philippines on the afternoon of July 21, 2026, H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, and H.E. Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., Secretary of Agriculture of the Philippines, jointly organized the "Cambodia-Philippines Agricultural Government-Private Sector Linkage Forum." This forum saw the participation of approximately 33 private companies from Cambodia and the Philippines to discuss opportunities for expanding agricultural trade cooperation. Beyond discussions on increasing Cambodian rice exports to the Philippines, both sides placed significant emphasis on the potential for opening up markets for Cambodia's cashews and livestock products, which are considered high-potential agricultural products with significant added value. The expansion of markets for cashews and livestock products is expected to help increase the value of Cambodian agricultural produce, broaden export opportunities, and boost income for local farmers and producers. Meanwhile, the Philippines will gain access to a source of quality and stable agricultural supplies. In addition to promoting exports, both parties also discussed cooperation in supplying agricultural fertilizers to ensure the sustainability of agricultural inputs, aiming to enhance the productivity and resilience of the agricultural sectors in both countries. The forum is considered a new achievement in Cambodia-Philippines cooperation, which will contribute to opening new markets for Cambodia's potential agricultural products, particularly cashews and livestock products. It will also help drive agricultural trade growth and increase economic benefits for Cambodian farmers, further strengthening the food security of both nations.
