Cambodia Braces for Rain and Thunderstorms Over Weekend Due to Tropical Depression Krovanh
Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology forecasts that Tropical Depression Krovanh will bring rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to 70% of the country from September 8-10, with the highlands expected to be most affected.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology announced on the morning of September 8, 2026, that Tropical Depression Krovanh (T2624) continues to influence the southwest monsoon, affecting the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Kingdom of Cambodia is not directly in the path of Tropical Depression Krovanh. This weather situation is expected to influence several areas within the Kingdom of Cambodia for three days, from September 8 to September 10, 2026, including: 1. Plains Areas: - Average minimum temperature: 25°C - Average maximum temperature: 36°C - Winds blowing from the southwest and northwest at an average speed of 3 meters/second. - Provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and Phnom Penh capital may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 40% of the land area. 2. Highland Areas: - Average minimum temperature: 24°C - Average maximum temperature: 35°C - Winds blowing from the southwest and west at an average speed of 5 meters/second. - Provinces such as Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 70% of the land area. 3. Coastal Areas: - Average minimum temperature: 25°C - Average maximum temperature: 34°C - Winds blowing from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 3 meters/second. - Provinces such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor mountain range may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 50% of the land area. - Sea waves will have an average minimum height of 0.50 meters and an average maximum height of 1.70 meters.
