Vietnam's PM Holds Talks with India's PM, Seeks Stronger Ties at BRICS Summit

Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on September 12. The meeting took place during PM Hung's visit to India to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. During the discussions, both leaders affirmed their commitment to further deepening the relationship between Vietnam and India. They also agreed that Vietnam would actively play its role as a BRICS partner country, promoting relations with BRICS member states and partner nations. The expansion of cooperative space between Vietnam and India was also a key topic. A particular highlight was the launch of the direct flight route between Mumbai and Hanoi, which is expected to open up significant new opportunities for cooperation between Vietnam and India. Vietnamese experts note that, considering the expanding consumer markets in India and China, Vietnam's domestic consumption potential could increase two to three times in the future. This suggests a potential acceleration in leveraging these economic potentials to strengthen bilateral ties. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth as a national policy. Strengthening bilateral relations with major countries is a crucial strategy for both economic development and expanding its influence on the international stage. Vietnam's engagement in multilateral frameworks like BRICS reflects its diplomatic approach to building diverse partnerships while avoiding excessive reliance on any single country.
