Cambodia and India Boost ICT Cooperation Through Business Forum

A business forum was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on July 30, 2026, where 11 representatives from Indian companies in the electronics, software, and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors met with their Cambodian counterparts. This event was organized to explore business and investment opportunities for Indian companies in Cambodia, establish collaborative partnerships, and contribute to Cambodia's digital transformation. It marks another significant step in strengthening cooperation between India and Cambodia in digital technology, innovation, and the knowledge-based economy. The business-to-business (B2B) discussion was organized by the Embassy of India in Cambodia in collaboration with the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), India's apex trade promotion organization for electronics, telecommunications, computer software, and IT-enabled services. The Indian delegation included CEOs, Managing Directors, and senior executives representing a wide array of advanced technology sectors, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Big Data Analytics, FinTech, AgriTech, Business Automation, Electric Vehicle (EV) Solutions, Mobile & Web Applications, Metaverse Technologies, Aviation Technologies, Health IT, Animation & Gaming, Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR), Consumer Electronics, Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), Semiconductors, IT Hardware and Components, Medical Electronic Devices and Equipment, Strategic Electronics, Solar-Powered Products and Equipment, Electronic Measuring Instruments, Embedded Technologies, and Drone Technologies. Over 100 participants from both countries attended the event, including government officials, private sector representatives, business associations, financial institutions, technology companies, and startups. The Cambodian delegation comprised leading technology and startup companies, the Chamber of Cambodia's Tycoons (COA), the Cambodia Digital Technology Association (CDTA), the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), the Microfinance Association of Cambodia (CMA), the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (IBCC), and several leading financial institutions such as ABA Bank, ACLEDA Bank, Vattanac Bank, Wing, and Bridge Bank. Ambassador Vanlalvawna encouraged business delegates from both nations to explore further avenues for collaboration, technological partnerships, innovation, digital capacity building, and investment. He emphasized that closer cooperation between Indian and Cambodian enterprises would further strengthen bilateral economic relations and support Cambodia's digital transformation and sustainable economic development. Gurmeet Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of ESC, remarked, "This discussion is not just a business-to-business meeting; it is the beginning of a shared journey towards a digital future where India and Cambodia stand as partners in innovation and progress. Our delegation represents India's advanced technology ecosystem, spanning AI, IoT, Cybersecurity, FinTech, AgriTech, EV solutions, and advanced electronics, among others. We see Cambodia not just as a market, but as a collaborative partner in building a knowledge-based economy that can help enhance the capabilities of its people, strengthen institutions, and build robust and sustainable infrastructure. India is globally recognized as a leading hub for Information Technology, software development, digital innovation, and emerging technologies. Its vibrant technology ecosystem, skilled workforce, and globally competitive IT industry have made India one of the world's leading digital economies and a trusted technology partner for countries worldwide. The discussion also highlighted India's progress and leadership in AI and digital innovation. Earlier this year, India successfully hosted the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026' in New Delhi, the first global AI summit hosted by a South Asian country. This summit brought together leaders from over 100 countries, global technology companies, policymakers, researchers, startups, and international organizations to foster responsible, inclusive, and human-centric international cooperation in AI. India's AI ecosystem continues to grow rapidly through strong public-private partnerships, research and innovation, startup development, public digital infrastructure, and initiatives focused on leveraging AI for inclusive and sustainable development. This day-long business forum provided an effective platform for enhancing business networks, technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and trade partnerships between Indian and Cambodian companies.
