India Encourages Cambodian Digital Transformation, Strengthens Tech Cooperation

To foster Cambodia's digital transformation, the Indian Embassy organized a business exchange event on July 30, 2026, in Phnom Penh, bringing together a delegation of Indian IT companies and Cambodian enterprises. The meeting saw participation from 11 companies representing India's leading firms in the electronics, software, and information technology sectors, aiming to explore business opportunities, investments, and partnerships with Cambodian counterparts. The B2B discussion, co-organized with the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), India's apex trade promotion organization for IT and IT-enabled services, featured Indian companies specializing in advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Big Data Analytics, FinTech, AgriTech, Business Automation, EV Solutions, Mobile & Web Applications, Metaverse Technologies, Aviation Technologies, Health IT, Animation & Gaming, Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR), Consumer Electronics, Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), Semiconductors, IT Hardware, Medical Electronic Devices, Strategic Electronics, Solar-powered Products and Equipment, Electronic Measurement Instruments, Embedded Technologies, and Drone Technologies. Over 100 representatives from government officials, the private sector, business associations, financial institutions, technology companies, and startups from both nations attended. Cambodian participants included leading technology and startup companies, the Council of Owners of Cambodia (COA), the Cambodia Digital Technology Association (CDTA), the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), the Microfinance Association of Cambodia (CMA), the Indian Business Chamber of Cambodia (IBCC), and major financial institutions like ABA Bank, Acleda Bank, Vattanac Bank, Wing, and Bridge Bank. During the discussions, Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna encouraged business leaders from both countries to explore further avenues for cooperation, technological partnerships, innovation, digital capability building, and investment. He emphasized that closer collaboration between Indian and Cambodian enterprises would further strengthen bilateral economic ties and support Cambodia's digital transformation and sustainable economic development. Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Chief Executive and Executive Director of ESC, remarked, "This discussion is not just a business-to-business meeting but the beginning of a shared journey towards a digital future where India and Cambodia stand as partners in innovation and progress. Our delegation represents India's advanced technology ecosystem, ranging from AI, IoT, Cyber Security, FinTech, AgriTech, EV solutions, to advanced electronics. We see Cambodia not just as a market but as a collaborative partner in building a knowledge-based economy that can help enhance people's capabilities, strengthen institutions, and create robust and sustainable infrastructure. Earlier this year, India successfully hosted the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026' in New Delhi, the first global AI summit of its kind hosted by a South Asian nation. The summit convened leaders from over 100 countries, global tech firms, policymakers, researchers, startups, and international organizations to foster responsible, inclusive, and human-centric international cooperation in AI. India's AI ecosystem continues to grow rapidly through strong public-private partnerships, research and innovation, startup development, public digital infrastructure, and initiatives focused on leveraging AI for inclusive and sustainable development.
