Cambodia Boosts Automotive Wire Harness Industry Development Through Investment Environment Enhancement
The Cambodian government has pledged to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and improve the investment environment to further develop the automotive wire harness industry and promote investment. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol emphasized the sector's importance in Cambodia's industrial structural transformation.
On the morning of Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) hosted a working group meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the CDC, discussing the 'Progress of Investment in Automotive Wire Harness Manufacturing in Cambodia.' The meeting was attended by CDC leadership, representatives from relevant ministries and government institutions, senior executives of automotive wire harness manufacturing companies operating in Cambodia, and numerous technical officials. The meeting smoothly proceeded, focusing on key strategic agendas including: 1. Reviewing the overall progress of the automotive wire harness manufacturing sector in Cambodia, 2. A concise report from each company representative on the current status of production activities and their general business operations, and 3. The presentation of various opinions and requests from each company representative with the aim of making business operations in this sector more efficient and competitive. The assembly attentively listened and engaged in in-depth discussions and opinion exchanges between representatives of ministries and government institutions and the private sector, seeking joint mechanisms that respond to needs in a timely manner. In his capacity as the government of Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol reiterated the government's firm stance to continuously support and facilitate all relevant parties to ensure that investments in automotive wire harness manufacturing maintain continuous progress and further foster a favorable environment for encouraging and promoting additional investment expansion in the future. He also highlighted the importance of this sector in actively contributing to the transformation of Cambodia's industrial structure from a labor-intensive industry to one based on skills and modern technology. Concurrently, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed all relevant parties to continue working closely with the private sector in monitoring and responding to all requests raised in the meeting promptly and effectively, thereby enhancing Cambodia's competitiveness in the region and globally. As a result, all representatives of automotive wire harness manufacturing companies expressed their deep gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister, CDC leadership, and all relevant ministries and institutions for opening a direct discussion forum characterized by cordiality and a high spirit of cooperation. The meeting concluded in a friendly atmosphere, with a shared commitment between the government and the private sector to strengthen cooperation, thereby enhancing confidence in Cambodia's investment environment, boosting national economic growth, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
