Indian Tech Firms Eye Cambodia Partnerships to Drive Digital Transformation

PHNOM PENH, July 30, 2026 (AFP) — Indian technology companies are stepping up interest in Cambodia, exploring investment and partnerships across artificial intelligence, FinTech, cybersecurity and other advanced sectors as the two countries deepen cooperation in digital innovation, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh said Thursday. A delegation of 11 representatives from nine Indian firms met Cambodian businesses and stakeholders during the India–Cambodia Business Interaction on Electronics, Software and ICT. The group included CEOs, managing directors and senior executives from industries ranging from blockchain, cloud computing and AgriTech to semiconductors, health IT, drone technologies and electric vehicle solutions. Organized by the Indian Embassy with the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council, the event drew more than 100 participants from government agencies, financial institutions, startups and business associations. Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung urged companies to pursue collaboration, technology transfer and digital capacity building, saying closer ties could support Cambodia’s digital transformation and sustainable growth. Gurmeet Singh, ESC’s CEO, said Indian firms see Cambodia not only as a market but also as a partner in building a knowledge‑driven economy. Cambodia's government has prioritized economic diversification and digitalization as key national strategies, focusing on infrastructure development and human resource training. This collaboration with Indian companies is seen as a significant step towards achieving these national goals. The expansion of the digital economy in the ASEAN region is notable, and for Cambodia to capitalize on this trend, partnerships with technologically advanced foreign companies are essential.
