Ex-Police Officer's Wife Allegedly Uses Husband's Gun for Suicide in Medan

A tragic incident has occurred in Medan, North Sumatra, where a woman, identified as the ex-wife of a police officer, allegedly used her former husband's firearm to end her life. The woman, identified by the initial L, was the former wife of Bripka IH, a police officer from the Medan Sunggal Police Station. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, August 2, at a house in the Bumi Asri housing complex in Medan Helvetia District, Medan City. According to Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan, Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Regional Police, L was resting at the house with her ex-husband, Bripka IH, at the time. During their rest, Bripka IH noticed that the bag containing his firearm was open. Upon checking, he discovered that the gun was missing. He then realized that L had taken the firearm and gone to the bathroom. Bripka IH reportedly asked L about the gun's whereabouts, and shortly after, a gunshot was heard from inside the bathroom. Police strongly suspect that L committed suicide using her ex-husband's firearm in the bathroom. Ferry Walintukan clarified an earlier statement that L was Bripka IH's current wife, stating that the couple had divorced in 2022 and L was indeed his ex-wife. It is understood that L had visited the house to meet her former husband. The Medan City Police are currently investigating the case. Bripka IH is also being questioned by the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the North Sumatra Regional Police as part of the ongoing investigation to uncover the full details of the incident.
