North Sumatra Police have corrected earlier information identifying a woman found dead in Medan as the wife of a police officer. The victim, L, was clarified to be the former wife of a police officer and is suspected of having committed suicide using her ex-husband's firearm.
North Sumatra Police (Polda Sumut) have clarified information regarding the death of a woman identified as L, who was found in a residential area in Medan. Initially reported as the wife of a police officer, it has now been confirmed that she was the former wife of a police officer. The woman was identified as the ex-wife of Bripka IH, who serves at the Medan Sunggal Police Station. Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan, Head of Public Relations for Polda Sumut, stated that L and Bripka IH had been divorced since 2022, meaning they were no longer husband and wife. L had visited the residential complex in Medan to meet with her ex-husband. The case is currently being handled by the Medan City Police (Polrestabes Medan). Meanwhile, Bripka IH, the ex-husband, is undergoing examination by the Internal Affairs Division (Propam Polda Sumut) in connection with the case. "The ex-husband is still under examination, and we are investigating the details," Ferry stated. Polda Sumut has also received the forensic laboratory results regarding L's cause of death. According to Ferry, the forensic findings indicate that L committed suicide using her ex-husband's firearm. "Based on the forensic laboratory results, it has been concluded that she committed suicide using a firearm," Ferry said. L, aged 35, was found dead on Sunday, August 2nd, at the home of her in-laws in the Bumi Asri complex, Cinta Damai Village, Medan Helvetia District. The incident had caused shock among local residents, with initial suspicions pointing towards suicide using her ex-husband's police-issued firearm. Source: CNN Indonesia
