PM Hung attends BRICS Summit in India, bolstering Vietnam's multi-faceted diplomacy

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived in New Delhi on September 12, commencing their participation in the 18th BRICS Summit as a partner country. The summit, scheduled from September 12–13, also includes bilateral engagements in India, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit by Prime Minister Hung is positioned as part of Vietnam's multi-faceted and independent foreign policy. BRICS, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is an emerging bloc with growing international influence. Vietnam's participation in this framework aligns with its strategy to accelerate economic growth and enhance its global voice. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic development, making the strengthening of ties with diverse trading partners and investors crucial for its export-driven economy. Cooperation with BRICS nations could offer opportunities for supply chain stability and new market development. Furthermore, while maintaining a complex relationship with China, Vietnam deepens its economic ties. In this context, reinforcing relationships with BRICS countries, including India, is vital for mitigating over-reliance on China and maintaining geopolitical balance. Prime Minister Hung's visit signifies Vietnam's intent to play a more active role on the international stage and its willingness to contribute to global issue resolution. Discussions at the summit and bilateral meetings are expected to further elevate Vietnam's international presence.
