Cambodia Leads ASEAN Public Service Cooperation Meeting

Cambodia hosted the 23rd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) meeting in Siem Reap on the morning of August 3, 2026. The meeting was attended by senior officials from ACCSM, ACCSM focal points, and the ASEAN Secretariat. During the opening of the meeting, Mr. Yok Bunna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, led the review, discussion, and coordination of important legal documents, work progress, and various agendas with senior officials from ASEAN member states. This is to ensure that the ministerial meeting, to be held on subsequent days, achieves fruitful results and high success. Mr. Yok Bunna emphasized that in the context of the rapid changes in digital technology evolution and the increasing expectations of citizens towards public service matters, the provision of public services to citizens must continue to be developed to be more agile, innovative, and citizen-centric than ever before. He further stated that these challenges are also important opportunities for stakeholders to modernize governance, strengthen institutional excellence, and invest in the most valuable resource: human resources. In this context, ACCSM continues to play a crucial role as a platform that allows ASEAN members to exchange experiences, share innovations, and strengthen cooperation, with the goal of promoting good governance throughout the countries in the ASEAN region. Through joint cooperation, ASEAN can build public services that are resilient, efficient, and fully capable to respond to future needs. The senior official from the Ministry of Interior stated that this meeting is an opportunity for all parties to jointly review the progress of cooperation and set directions for future collaboration, especially contributing meaningfully to the building of the ASEAN Community. It is noteworthy that this important regional meeting is held with the aim of strengthening cooperation, exchanging experiences, and promoting innovation in the public service sector among ASEAN member countries and partner countries, in order to respond to the provision of public services to citizens more effectively.
