Cambodian National Assembly President Meets Myanmar President, Agree to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Khuon Sodary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, in Phnom Penh to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. Both sides agreed to further deepen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation. Following the meeting, Dr. Keo Piseth, Director of the Secretariat and Spokesperson for the President of the National Assembly, informed journalists that President Khuon Sodary warmly welcomed the presence of President Min Aung Hlaing and the Myanmar delegation visiting Cambodia. The President of the National Assembly emphasized that the presence of the President of Myanmar further deepens the relationship between Cambodia and Myanmar. She stated that the meetings between Prime Minister Hun Manet and President Min Aung Hlaing, along with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding, further promote the enhancement of relations and cooperation between the two countries. On behalf of the National Assembly, representing the people, she pledged to participate more actively in nurturing the bilateral relations between Cambodia and Myanmar to be even better and more comprehensive for the benefit of the people. According to the spokesperson, President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his gratitude to the President of the National Assembly and the top leaders of Cambodia for their warm welcome. He stated that besides strengthening relations, Myanmar also intends to study Cambodia's national reconciliation policies. The Myanmar President expressed confidence that with the developing strong relations, the two countries will continue to cooperate even better. It is reported that President Min Aung Hlaing is on a state visit to Cambodia from September 11 to 12, 2026, at the invitation of His Majesty the King of Cambodia. Source: AKP Khmer
