Cambodia-France Prepare for Francophonie Summit Business Forum to Attract French Investors

The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cambodia (CCIFC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3, 2026, to co-organize the 3rd Cambodia-France Business Forum. The event is scheduled to take place on November 16-17, 2026, in Phnom Penh. The signing ceremony was presided over by Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and attended by Mr. Julien Bert, Vice President of CCIFC, along with leaders and officials from the Ministry of Commerce, CCIFC representatives, French Trade Advisors in Cambodia (CCEF), the French Embassy in Cambodia, and sponsoring companies. Following the ceremony, Mr. Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, highlighted that CCIFC currently has 270 members in Cambodia. He anticipates that the upcoming Cambodia-France Business Forum will attract approximately 400 companies. Currently, French investors in Cambodia are involved in various sectors, including airport operations (Vinci), pharmaceuticals, education, construction, manufacturing, and bottled water production. Mr. Sovicheat stated, "We expect that this business forum, held concurrently with the Francophonie Summit, will undoubtedly generate further interest and encouragement, positioning Cambodia as a new and promising market for French investors and businesses." He further added, "We anticipate this forum will attract more companies. Particularly, in line with new trends, we are not only looking at companies involved in traditional investment and trade but also in areas such as agricultural processing and existing import-export goods. We are looking forward to companies related to artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation investing and contributing to the advancement of Cambodia's physical commerce and industry."
