PAGASA stated that Josie is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday afternoon or evening as it shifts northeast in the next 12 hours. It could also weaken further into a low pressure area within the day. Josie's stay within PAR was brief, having just entered at 12:30 am on Tuesday. No rainfall or wind warnings have been raised in connection with the storm. Josie is the Philippines’ 10th tropical cyclone for 2026 and the third for July. In addition to Josie, PAGASA is monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) outside PAR, located 820 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon as of 10 am on Tuesday. The LPA has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours, but PAGASA weather specialist Charmagne Varilla said it is not expected to affect the Philippines and will not enter PAR. Meanwhile, scattered rain and thunderstorms are still expected in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union on Tuesday due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, with flash floods and landslides remaining possible. Other areas are expected to have generally fair weather, with only isolated rain caused by localized thunderstorms. The southwest monsoon is also bringing strong to gale-force gusts to several areas, including the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday. Similar conditions are forecast for Wednesday and Thursday in various northern regions. PAGASA also updated its warnings for coastal waters on Tuesday. Rough seas with waves up to 3 meters high are expected along the western and northern seaboards of Babuyan Islands, the northwestern seaboard of Pangasinan, and the seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union, prompting advisories for small vessels to stay out of the sea. Moderate to rough seas with waves up to 2.5 meters and 2 meters are forecast for other coastal areas, with precautionary measures advised for small vessels.
