Cambodia and Myanmar Agree to Strengthen Bilateral, Regional, and Global Cooperation

On the afternoon of September 11, 2026, at the Peace Palace, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet held a bilateral meeting with President Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and a high-level delegation during their state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from September 11 to 12, 2026. During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei expressed a warm welcome to the distinguished presence of President Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation on their state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, reflecting the continued nurturing of bilateral friendship and the further strengthening and expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries. In response, President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government and people of Cambodia, as well as to Samdech Thipadei, for the warm, close, and fraternal hospitality. Simultaneously, the President highly valued Cambodia's rapid progress and modernization, noting that through this first state visit as President, he has clearly witnessed the new face of the Kingdom of Cambodia compared to his visit in 2017. Within the framework of cooperation with Cambodia, the President considers Cambodia a good friend, a close friend, and a friend who has consistently supported the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, both within the ASEAN framework and globally, especially during Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022. Samdech Thipadei and President Min Aung Hlaing also discussed and exchanged views aimed at promoting and strengthening bilateral cooperation in several priority areas, including economy, trade and investment, tourism, security and national defense, education and human resource development, religious affairs, and combating technological fraud. They also discussed mutual support within regional and global frameworks. Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei and President Min Aung Hlaing discussed and pledged to enhance cooperation between Cambodia, Myanmar, and the region to combat cross-border crimes more effectively, particularly human trafficking, drug trafficking, and technological crimes.
