Cambodia Welcomes Myanmar President on State Visit, Affirms Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Cambodian Acting Head of State Hun Sen hosted the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, and his delegation on a state visit, holding a state banquet in his honor on the afternoon of Friday, September 11, 2026. The visit is scheduled from September 11 to 12, 2026. Hun Sen, on behalf of King Norodom Sihamoni, extended a warm welcome to President Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation, expressing his pleasure in hosting the state banquet. He congratulated the President on his election and expressed strong confidence that under his visionary leadership, Myanmar would achieve its stated priorities. The visit was described as a testament to the long-standing friendship and a means to strengthen the close partnership between the two nations. The discussions provided an opportunity for in-depth exchange of views on bilateral, regional, and international cooperation, aiming to achieve fruitful benefits for both peoples. Cambodia places high importance on its long-standing relations with Myanmar and highly values the progress in fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, information, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as within regional and international frameworks. Both sides agreed that through joint efforts, particularly by upholding solidarity and mutual respect within the ASEAN community and on the international stage, and by peacefully safeguarding their common ideals and interests, the strong partnership and long-standing relations between Cambodia and Myanmar will continue to flourish.
