Cambodia Braces for Localized Heavy Rains and Gusty Winds as Tropical Depression Dolphin Lingers

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has issued a notification regarding the weather situation in the Kingdom of Cambodia, stating that Tropical Depression Dolphin (T2613) continues to influence the southwest monsoon. While the depression affects the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, and the Cambodian sea, the Kingdom of Cambodia is not in its direct path. The ministry predicts that these weather conditions will prevail from August 4th to 6th, 2026. 1- Plains areas: Minimum average temperature 25°C, maximum average temperature 36°C. Winds blowing from the southwest and northwest at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kampot, and the capital Phnom Penh may experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 50% of the area. 2- Highland areas: Minimum average temperature 24°C, maximum average temperature 35°C. Winds blowing from the southwest and west at an average speed of 4 meters per second. Provinces including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 60% of the area. 3- Coastal areas: Minimum average temperature 25°C, maximum average temperature 35°C. Winds blowing from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 2 meters per second. Provinces such as Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountain area may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, covering 60% of the area. Sea waves are expected to have an average height of 0.50 meters to a maximum of 1.75 meters.
