Kampong Cham Province Launches Livestock Disease Vaccination Campaign

Kampong Cham Provincial Governor Oun Chan Da officially launched a free vaccination campaign against foot-and-mouth disease for cattle and buffaloes on the morning of July 20, 2026, at Wat Muni Von Svay Sronar in Svay Sronar village, Roka Ar commune, Kong Meas district. The campaign aims to prevent the spread of infectious diseases that commonly affect livestock during the rainy season. During the launch, Governor Oun Chan Da instructed all levels of authorities to help disseminate information to residents, encouraging their participation with specialized officials in vaccinating livestock to prevent and control animal infectious diseases. He also urged them to report the status of animal diseases to village animal health agents and district veterinary officers for timely vaccination, thereby avoiding severe outbreaks. Governor Oun Chan Da reminded the public to prioritize their own health, maintain hygiene, and clean their living environments, which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes, to prevent various infectious diseases. He stressed the importance of immediately taking any sick family members to the hospital to avoid life-threatening situations. Sim Thavireak, Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, stated that Roka Ar commune in Kong Meas district has 614 cattle. The current vaccination effort will target 140 cattle in two villages. Specialized officials typically conduct cattle vaccination campaigns during the rainy season, particularly before the floodwaters rise, as certain viruses can spread through water, leading to infections such as foot-and-mouth disease and vesicular stomatitis in cattle.
