Phnom Penh Strengthens Online Scam Crackdown with Progress Review Meeting

Phnom Penh Governor, Khuong Sreng, presided over a meeting on the afternoon of July 28 to monitor the progress of online scam crackdowns within the capital. The meeting was attended by the Commander of the Phnom Penh Military Police, Deputy Commissioner of Phnom Penh Municipality, the governors of all 14 districts, and other relevant officials. The primary objective of this meeting was to share experiences gained from past operations, identify challenges encountered, and discuss areas for improvement to ensure that anti-scam operations yield better and more effective results. During the meeting, Governor Khuong Sreng issued firm directives, instructing the district governors to strictly implement Sub-Decree No. 03. He also urged owners or managers of shared accommodation and locations to cooperate by providing accurate information to the authorities. District administrations are required to implement more active professional measures to identify suspicious targets, leading to timely and effective crackdowns, and to regularly report monthly implementation results to the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration. Furthermore, the Governor advised all district governors to focus on strengthening the provision of public services to citizens at the district-level One-Stop Service offices and the commune-level One-Stop Service mechanisms, in accordance with the guidelines on procedures and regulations for providing administrative services at the sub-national level. These initiatives to boost both crime crackdowns and public service delivery are aimed at ensuring security, public order, and enhancing the quality of life for citizens in Phnom Penh.
