The Cambodian Ministry of Information and the Indian Embassy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the provision of funding for Quick Impact Projects to be implemented in Kratie Province in 2026. The projects include bicycle distribution and beekeeping initiatives.

The Ministry of Information of Cambodia and the Indian Embassy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the provision of financial assistance for the implementation of Quick Impact Projects in Kratie Province in 2026. This was announced in a press release from the Ministry of Information. On the afternoon of July 10, 2026, at the Ministry of Information, H.E. Net Pheaktra, Minister of Information and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Kratie Province, and H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia, signed the MoU regarding financial assistance from the Indian government to the Ministry of Information for the implementation of two Quick Impact Projects in 2026 in Kratie Province. These projects are: (1) the "Bicycle Distribution Project to Support the Education of Students Facing Difficulties in the Community, Phase 2" and (2) the "Beekeeping Project for Farmers Facing Livelihood Difficulties." The ceremony was attended by senior officials and the implementation team for Quick Impact Projects from the Ministry of Information, as well as representatives from the Indian Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Both projects have a duration of 12 months and will be implemented in Ou Reang Sen Chey District, Kratie Province, under the leadership and coordination of the Project Implementation Team of the Secretariat for Coordination of International Cooperation (SCIC) of the Ministry of Information. The "Bicycle Distribution Project to Support the Education of Students Facing Difficulties in the Community, Phase 2" is being implemented with the aim of promoting the education of students facing livelihood difficulties who have to travel long distances from home to school. It is anticipated that this project will contribute to reducing the dropout rate among beneficiary students by encouraging regular school attendance, reducing the financial and time burden on student families, improving students' health, and contributing to environmental protection, ultimately leading to better academic outcomes. Through this project, 200 sets of bicycles, safety helmets, and environmentally friendly water bottles will be provided to 200 students facing difficulties who are studying at the primary level in target schools in Kratie Province. In addition to receiving bicycles, helmets, and water bottles, beneficiary students will receive training on road traffic laws, road safety, and bicycle maintenance to ensure that the benefits they receive do not have negative impacts and to guarantee the sustainability of the project. The "Beekeeping Project for Farmers Facing Livelihood Difficulties" is being implemented with the objective of increasing farmers' income through beekeeping, climate-resilient agriculture, and market access for farmers. This project will provide capital, materials, raw materials, and training to 30 beneficiary farming families in the target area of Kratie Province for trial beekeeping. During the project implementation period, beneficiary farmers, who are mostly women and youth, will receive training on proper beekeeping methods, pest management skills, and other related skills such as small business financial planning, income and expenditure recording, beekeeping production planning, building beekeeper networks, and finding markets for farmers. Both of the above projects will contribute to reducing poverty rates, promoting education in remote rural areas, building life skills and competencies, strengthening farmers' resilience to climate change, and participating in the economic, social, environmental, and infrastructural development of rural areas. Specifically, these projects will encourage community participation with transparency, equality, and responsibility. During the MoU signing ceremony, H.E. Net Pheaktra stated, "The signing ceremony between the Ministry of Information and the Indian Embassy today is a significant step in continuing the support from the government of the Republic of India to the Ministry of Information, to jointly strengthen efforts in addressing community challenges at the local level. I highly commend and express my gratitude to the government of the Republic of India for its continuous support to the Ministry of Information in promoting the information sector through projects such as establishing a document preservation center at the Ministry of Information headquarters and community development through the establishment of community centers in Koh Sotin District, Kampong Cham Province, the bicycle distribution project phases 1 and 2 in Ou Reang Sen Chey District, the solar panel installation project in Snoul District, and the beekeeping project in Ou Reang Sen Chey District, for the benefit of citizens facing difficulties in the local areas of Kratie Province." The Ministry of Information would like to confirm that this is the third year the ministry has received financial assistance from the government of the Republic of India through the Indian Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia for the implementation of Quick Impact Projects in Tboung Khmum Province, Kratie Province, and Phnom Penh Capital City.
